The Russian state TV channel to Film One Day in Sofia

With the cooperation of the National Tourism Office of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Russian Federation, Sofia Municipality, through Sofia Tourism Administration, welcomed in Sofia a team of the Russian state television company VGTRK in the days from September 1 to September 4, 2019. The crew filmed video footage for a TV movie from the series „Один день в городе“ (One Day in the City) of the TV channel Моя планета (My Planet). The host Diana Dzhalalova and a cameraman, a sound recordist and an editor visited the biggest attractions in Sofia – St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, St Sophia Basilica, the archeological level under the basilica, Sofia History Museum, Serdica Ancient Cultural and Communication Complex, the mineral springs in the city center, the National Palace of Culture and the fountains in the park at night, the National History Museum, Boyana Church, the Golden Bridges, Pancharevo lake and Korali Mineral Pool, a Bulgarian wedding, Zhenski Pazar (Women’s market) and its goods, Vitosha Mountain and Simeonovo lift, filmed Sofia from various high points, attended several concerts, made a pot of clay with the help of Bulgarian craftsmen, visited Bulgarian restaurants and tried traditional Bulgarian dishes.

The TV show will be edited and broadcast to a 75-million audience as the channel is aired not only in Russia, but also in Ukraine, Kazakhstan, the Baltic States, Belarus and all CIS countries. The potential of the Russian market is of great importance for Sofia as a tourist destination and Sofia Tourism Administration has found a good opportunity through one of the most effective channels of communication - television, to promote the sights of the Bulgarian capital in the most attractive way. It is expected that the 26-minute movie about Sofia will be broadcast at least 12 times in the first three weeks after the premiere and repeatedly in the next few years on the channel My Planet (Моя планета) and the channels of the holding of All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company.
