Official Opening of the Tourist Information Centre "Tram 83"

Thursday, 12 December 2024

Sofia Tourism Administration is pleased to invite all residents and visitors of Sofia to the official opening of the Tourist Information Centre "Tram 83," which will take place on December 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM at "Banski" Square.

Tram 83 is a symbol of the capital's public transport and will function as a static tourist information centre. Restored in 2015 by the initiative of the "Urban Transport and Infrastructure" Association and with the support of Siemens Bulgaria, this tram offers a unique opportunity to learn about the history of public transport in Sofia and its development over the years.

For over 36 years, MAN-Siemens trams have been a part of Sofia's daily life. Tram 83, together with Tram 92, continued to operate as service units until the mid-1980s.

In 1999, Tram 92 was restored and became the first attraction tram in Sofia. Tram 83 was preserved for many years at Tramkar until its installation at “Banski” Square. To mark the opening of the Tourist Information Centre "Tram 83," Sofia Tourist Administration is organising a free tour with retro Tram 92. The tour will run three times at 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM, and 2:00 PM, covering major landmarks in Sofia, including "Vazrazhdane" Square, the Court House, and the Central Market Hall.

Registration is required for the tours as seats are limited. Reserve your free tickets at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1109251614439?aff=oddtdtcreator.

Don't miss this to immerse yourself in the history of the capital and enjoy the retro atmosphere of Tram 83!
