The special train will run on April 4, 2026 (Lazarovden - Lazarus Saturday). Two return trips are scheduled on the Sofia - Bankya – Sofia route. The first train departs from Sofia Central Station at 09:00 and arrives in Bankya at 09:42, with the return trip at 11:10, arriving back in Sofia at 11:51. The second train departs from Sofia at 13:50, arrives in Bankya at 14:32, and the return trip is at 16:10, arriving at 16:51.

Event Period

This is a one-day event, organized specially for the Lazarovden holiday (the Saturday before Palm Sunday).

Price – Adults and Children

The price of a return ticket with reserved seats included is 20 euros (about 39 BGN) for adults and 10 euros (about 19 BGN) for children up to 10 years of age.

The special train route is between Sofia Central Station and the town of Bankya.

Other features

The train is hauled by the oldest operating steam locomotive of BDZ – locomotive No. 26.26. The coaches are themed with Easter decorations. During the stay in Bankya, passengers have free time to walk and visit local landmarks such as the park, the mineral bath and the rotunda. The event is suitable for both families with children and lovers of railway history and heritage train rides.
