Sofia is Actively Building a Vision for the Future with the Support of Powerful Marketing

In July, Sofia made a big step in the development of tourism in the capital - a governing body of Sofia Tourist Region was chosen.

According to the regionalization of Bulgaria in 2015, the city of Sofia is the center of Sofia Tourist Region and the main purpose of the regionalization is linked to marketing - the popularization and promotion of each of the nine regions with all the opportunities for tourism that they offer. On July 10, in the hall of one of the newest tourist attractions of the Bulgarian capital - the Triangular Tower at Sofia History Museum, a constituent assembly was held to set up a Management Organization for Sofia Tourist Region. Associate Professor PhD Todor Chobanov, Deputy Mayor of Sofia Municipality, who manages the Tourism Department of the municipality, was elected Chairman of the Management Board of this organization. As Executive Director of Sofia Tourist Region was elected Ivo Marinov - Director of Sofia Tourism Administration at Sofia Municipality where the headquarters of the association will be located.

Sofia Tourist Region covers the territory of Sofia-city, Sofia-district, Pernik and Kyustendil.

The goals of the newly established association are the formation of regional tourism products, the implementation of regional marketing and advertising, the establishment of Sofia Tourist Region with its 23 municipalities as a preferred and attractive tourist destination, the strengthening of the region's specialization in business tourism, cultural tourism, mountain tourism, health tourism, religious and pilgrimage tourism, adventure tourism, ecotourism, etc.
