From November 5 to November 7, 2018 the leading global event for the travel industry WTM London 2018 was held in London. It was attended by 5 000 exhibitors from all over the world and more than 3 000 media were accredited to cover the event. The forum brought together around 50 000 professionals from the Tourism industry, key companies from all sectors of business, journalists, students and end users. Sofia took part in the forum with a separate information desk at the national stand of Bulgaria, which covered an area of approximately 296 square meters. The focus in the presentation of the Bulgarian capital was on the rich cultural and historical heritage, the new attractions in Sofia as well as its promotion as a city of cinema – part of UNESCO Creative Cities Network, and European Capital of Sport. The variety of promotional materials and multimedia videos at the stand presented Sofia as an interesting urban destination. During the exhibition were held a great number of meetings and talks with tour operators, representatives of various media, travel-bloggers, representatives of various companies working in the field of tourism marketing, and end users planning their visits to Sofia. There was great interest in the upcoming cultural and sporting events in Sofia. Sofia Municipality took part with a multimedia presentation (Sofia - find your story here) at the Bulgarian event organized by New McCann Association on the second day of the exhibition - part of a communication campaign aiming to encourage people from Britain to visit Bulgaria.
