Christmas Bazaar 2018

Friday, 23 November 2018

From 23.11. 2018 to 23.12.2018

Venue: City Garden, Sofia

One of the most awaited Christian feasts – the Nativity of Jesus, has become an event that brings people together as early as a month before Christmas. Part of this tradition are the Christmas Bazaars, which originated 500 years ago in Germany and Austria. There people could meet each evening, enjoy delicious food and hot drinks, and immersed in the festive atmosphere count down the remaining days till the holiday.

The annual German Bazaar in Sofia recreates the authentic German traditions regarding the celebration of Christmas. A little Christmas village is designed and built at a specially selected place where you can see decorated wooden houses which offer traditional German dishes, warm wine and treats for children as well as handmade souvenirs - wooden toys, Christmas decoration, etc. In the heart of this village is erected a stage where different events are held every day – puppet theatre, Christmas music performances, school, kindergarten and charity concerts. The main accent is Santa Claus who every evening helps someone open another window from the pre-Christmas calendar. Every year, the German Christmas Bazaar supports a specific social cause by collecting donations and letting charity foundations use the stage and territory of the bazaar for free. There is also an animation and entertainment area for the youngest visitors.

The 8th edition of the German Christmas Bazaar in Sofia will begin on November 23, 2018.

The stage and the wooden houses located in the City Garden near Alexander of Battenberg Square will delight their visitors with a rich cultural programme – children’s theatre, music performances and meetings with Santa Claus. Delicious culinary surprises will welcome the visitors every day, the aroma of cinnamon will be in the air and everyone will be surrounded by dozens of smiles and good mood.
