Vitosha mountain, parks and gardens

The City Garden (in Bulgarian: Gradska gradina) is Sofia's oldest and most central public garden. It‘s located between the National Gallery, the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, The Sofia City Art Gallery and Bulgaria Hall. Today the City Garden is not only a popular retreat for the residents of the capital (especially youth), but also a favoured place for amateur chess players. On its territory are annually organized festivals on Bulgaria’s national holidays, bazaars; Bulgarian traditional dance ‘horo’ is played in front of the theatre and open-air exhibitions are held. The famous fountain with the dancing woman is also located there. In the garden you can also find a musical children’s playground.
