From March 24, 2022, , the National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (NAIM-BAS) will present a temporary exhibition Time, Matter and Spirit. The Conservation in the National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
The exhibition focuses on the contribution of conservators and other museum specialists who devoted their professional life to the preservation and conservation of our cultural and historical heritage already from the time of the National Museum to the present National Archaeological Museum.
In recent years, Laboratory for Analyses, Conservation and Restoration at NAIM-BAS has reestablished itself as a technological and research centre that provides expertise not only for the needs of NAIM-BAS but also for a number of regional, municipal and archaeological museums throughout the country. This process is evident by the participation in the exhibition of more than 200 artefacts from the depositories of 21 museums.
The realization of the exhibition is related to the activity of the NAIM-BAS under the research project INFRAMAT and carried out with the support of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Culture of Bulgaria, Glavbolgarstroy Holding AD and Dundee Precious Metals EAD and in partnership with 21 historical and archeological museums throughout the country, which provide finds from their depositories.
The exhibition is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Bulgarian Institute of Archaeology - the first Bulgarian scientific institute.
The exhibition Time, Matter and Spirit. The Conservation at the National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences will be open to visitors from March 24 to September 18, 2022, in the Temporary Exhibitions Hall of NAIM-BAS on No 1 Atanas Burov Square.
