Virtual tour of Regional Historical Museum - Sofia

The permanent exhibition of Regional History Museum – Sofia, located at 1 Banski Square - the building of the former Central Mineral Baths, is spread out across eight exhibition halls and covers the time period from the beginning of the VI millennium B.C. to the 1940s. It was officially opened on September 17, 2015.

The cultural and historical heritage of Sofia is already accessible through a virtual tour. Visitors can follow the chronological order of the exhibition halls or go directly to a specific one.

The permanent exhibition consists of the following themes – Antique Heritage, Power of the Spirit, The Dynastic Connection to Western Europe, The Palace Study, A Street in Sofia, State and Municipal Institutions, The Homes and Clothing of Sofia Citizens, Cultural Life and Entertainment.

There are artefacts from Prehistory, Antiquity, Middle Ages, XV-XIX century, 1878-1944, 1944-1989; discoveries from the study of numerous archaeological sites on the territory of Sofia; the Golden Carriage and the desk of Prince Ferdinand; a Mercedes car from 1905; restorations of Sofia houses before and after 1878. In The Power of the Spirit Hall are presented the achievements of Orthodox Christian culture and art.

The virtual tour was carried out with the support of Sofia Municipality, Culture Program-2021, under the project Virtual 3D walk in Regional Historical Museum – Sofia of The Treasures of Bulgaria Foundation, in partnership with Regional Historical Museum - Sofia.
