Sofia won its first award for best tourism website

On April 20, 2019, the Chinese version of the tourism website www.visitsofia.bg won first prize at the International Tourism Fair Cultural Tourism 2019, Veliko Tarnovo, at the seventh National READ & TRAVEL competition in the category "Most professional tourism websites and mobile apps”.

Apart from Sofia, dozens of municipalities and museums from the country, the embassies of Azerbaijan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Palestine, South Africa, the Chinese Cultural Center, the tourist information center from the Serbian town of Dimitrovgrad, various associations and tourism organizations from Bulgaria and abroad also took part in the International Tourism Fair Cultural Tourism 2019.

The Bulgarian capital, represented by Sofia Tourism Administration, took part in the exhibition with its own stand with a cinema area where visitors could immerse in the magic of film art. Specially for Sofia Tourism Administration, BNT created a documentary about Sofia, presenting archive footage with interesting facts and tourist attractions.

A TV crew of the state Internet channel "Russia 1" took an interview from Mr. Ivo Marinov, the director of Sofia Tourism Administration.

During the exhibition, the Bulgarian-Russian round-table discussion: The Role of Tourism in the Development of Regions. Cultural tourism – traditions and future, took place at the Museum of the Bulgarian Revival and Constituent Assembly. During the panel "The regions of Bulgaria and Russia - centers for the development of cultural traditions and historical memory" was presented the movie Sofia - the History of Europe. Orthodox Churches. More than 50 representatives of Russian regions and of the tourism business sector arrived from Russia in the old Bulgarian capital for the exhibition and the round-table discussions.
