The Bulgarian Capital is in talks with Berlin to join the Start Alliance Platform
Over the past years, Sofia has been enjoying a rapid development of the technology sector and the entrepreneurial environment, as well as a strong international investor interest. Public authorities strive to provide better conditions for the business environment and seek new opportunities to support the high-tech sector, as well as partnership initiatives between Sofia and foreign cities in support of start-up businesses. In January, the opportunities for collaboration in the field of traditional and technology industries and various partnership initiatives between Sofia and Berlin were discussed at a meeting between Vladimir Danailov, CEO of Sofia Municipal Privatisation & Investment Agency, and Stefan Yonkov, head of the Trade and Economic Office at the Embassy of Bulgaria in Berlin.
The possibility of Sofia joining the Start Alliance Platform – a business network of the most attractive business centers in the world, was discussed with Dr. Christian Herzog - founder of the platform and Head of Division Digital Business at Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie. The aim of Start Alliance is to help start-ups adapt their business models to the international requirements, support their global growth, and accelerate corporate innovation. Berlin Partner is a public/private partnership network that has been supporting the local and foreign business for more than 20 years now and has transformed the German capital into an attractive business destination. It collaborates with the Berlin State Senate and with over 280 companies dedicated to promoting the city and which are responsible for the image of the German capital around the world.
Thus, Sofia joining the Alliance will represent an exceptional opportunity for the Bulgarian capital to become a valuable partner in the network, which includes undisputed startup hubs such as Beijing, Berlin, Dubai, London, New York, Paris, Shanghai, Tel Aviv, Vienna and Warsaw.
