Marriott and Hyatt Will Soon Welcome Their Guests in Sofia

Even though 4- and 5-star accommodation establishments amount to barely 7% of all accommodation establishments in Sofia, almost half (41%) of all bed places are located there. The 4- and 5-star hotels in the capital have the highest occupancy rate among the accommodation establishments and the main reason for this is the development of congress tourism in the city (4-star hotels – 50.4% occupancy rate, 5-star hotels – 59.7%). The Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU during the first six month of 2018 and the ever more active role of our country in the development of European policies contribute even more to these statistics. Congress tourism continues to develop but the competition among the most luxurious hotels also grows. In 2020 there will be new 5-star hotels in Sofia as two international chains will invest in Sofia – Marriott and Hyatt.

The investments will contribute greatly to the Bulgarian economy and to the creation of new jobs in the tourism sector.
