Autumn Edition of Sofia Film Fest – 24 th Edition

The autumn edition of the 24th SOFIA FILM FEST will start with Milcho Manchevski's latest film "WILLOW" The famous Macedonian director will personally present his work in Sofia and will receive the special award of SFF on September 25th. Milcho Manchevski's latest work - Willow, traces women's struggles with tradition, notions of loyalty, the control exercised over their bodies, and with problems such as pregnancy and adoption. Their goal is not to change the world or the conservative society, and their personal cause - to become mothers, turns them into incredible heroines.

There are ten finalists in the National Campaign "Enlightener of the Year 2020"

There are 10 finalists in the national campaign "Enlightener of the Year 2020", organized by the Bulgarian National Radio. For 7 years now, voting has determined the people who today inspire others, make changes and do good deeds. There were 117 nominations in this year's campaign, with inspiring stories and characters. Traditionally, politicians, protesters and journalists, whose job by default should be to enlighten are not nominated. The jury selected the 10 finalists. The public voting for the winner among them will start in October, and the "Enlightener of the Year 2020" will as always be announced on November 1.

New Bulgarian feature films in the autumn edition of Sofia Film Fest

The autumn edition of Sofia Film Fest will present 5 new Bulgarian feature films for the first time.
The screenings are scheduled for the period October 5-9 at Lumiere Lidl cinema.
The festival is organized by Art Fest under the auspices of Sofia Municipality in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, the National Film Center and the National Palace of Culture, with the support of the MEDIA Sub-programme of Creative Europe, national and foreign cultural institutes, sponsors, partners and friends..

CineLibri 2020 with live and online screenings

The sixth edition of CineLibri International Film and Literature Festival will once again enchant the audience with movies based on literary works. The festival will take place from October 18 to November 8 under the motto "Education of feelings". The events will also be held in the cities of Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Stara Zagora and Blagoevgrad.

Because of the complicated situation due to the spread of the coronavirus, significant part of the program will also be broadcast online through the platform Neterra TV + (www.neterra.tv/plus), which as of August has a new look and richer content, and some of the titles will only be available online.

The festival is part of the Cultural Events Calendar of Sofia Municipality for 2020.

La Daronne (Mama Weed) with Isabelle Huppert will open CineLibri at Hall 1 in the NPC

A beautiful ceremony will mark the beginning of CineLibri 2020, which this year will take place under the motto "Education of feelings" from October 18 to November 8. The festival will offer 45 films (most of them with national and world premieres in our country). Over 20 of them will be broadcast online through the Neterra TV + platform (www.neterra.tv/plus). In addition to including a series of special film and literature meetings and commemorative celebrations, the festival will also include several educational webinars featuring Georgi Tenev, Svetlozar Vassilev, Nikolay Yordanov and Andy Deliana. This year the gala evenings dedicated to different cultures will offer films from France, the United States, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Denmark, Portugal, and Ireland.

In the span of 21 days, there will be over 300 screenings in all art cinemas, several alternative spaces, cultural institutes, as well as in Park Center Sofia.
