GALA EVENING - BALLET "ARABESQUE" | "CARMINA BURANA" AND "BOLERO"
Musical Theatre
Ballet "Arabesque" presents two of its most successful performances - "Carmina Burana" and "Bolero" - which have become the hallmark of Ballet "Arabesque".
These performances are a favourite not only of the Bulgarian audience but have also inspired explosive applauses on numerous world stages.
CARMINA BURANA
Choreography – Boriana Sechanova
Music – Carl Orff
Costume design – Tsvetanka Petkova-Stoynova
The choreographer Boriana Sechanova seeks the closest dance equivalent of the songs, whose exceptionally poetic medieval texts are filled with vitality and irony. The music of Carl Orff recreates a matching nuance. With the immense richness of their contemporary sensibility, the dancers capture through their bodies the irony of the situation, in which a person lives with the belief that they are a master of their own life, while being guided and manipulated by the whims of Fate, which rises and revives, destroys and murders, comforts with vain hopes, while spinning the wheel of human life.
BOLERO
Choreography – Margarita Arnaudova
Music – Maurice Ravel
Costumes – Maria Trendafilova
Rehearsal director – Olesia Pantikina
“Bolero” encapsulates a strong sense of programmatic structure together with a breathtaking atmosphere, where the ballet movement is stylized in the rhythm of the Spanish dance. The high expressivity of the dance is achieved through the polyphony in the choreography of Margarita Arnaudova.
“Bolero” is one of the emblematic performances of Ballet “Arabesque,” a part of the heritage of the great choreographer and director of the troupe, Margarita Arnaudova.
