Historical Information
It’s located between Sofia and Samokov at 800 meters above sea level. The dam is 20 km long and its widest part is 5 km. It can withhold a maximum of 673 million cubic meters of water.
Vitosha mountain, parks and gardens

Iskar is the biggest dam in Bulgaria. It is situated on the Iskar River and provides 2/3 of the water for the capital Sofia, also being used for producing hydroelectricity. Near the dam are located different hotels, restaurants and bungalows.
