The building of the Central Universal Store, more popular by the abbreviation TSUM, was commissioned to Bulgarian architect, Kosta Nikolov in 1956. During the period of Socialist rule TSUM was the most reputable and fashionable shopping center in Bulgaria. Today the building houses business offices, shops and restaurants.
